Like youcould have heard, LAX officials recently made some changes for airport passengers who want to take Uber, Lyft, and taxis when they land. The new process is invoked.LAX-es, and accordingsome people, is the surest sign of the coming apocalypse.

This is not a guide for LAX-it. There areother leadershow the new system works (and yes, you can still use Uber, Lyft, and taxis to go directly to the airport terminals). This is a guide to getting in and out of LAX efficiently, without needing to know anything about LAX-it, choosing options that are often faster, more sustainable, and much cheaper.

FlyAway offers the least hassle at the lowest price

WhatWalk away, an express bus service servingfour destinations in the LA area, sombrerobeen ready to use for a long timebut it could be slow sometimes. Thanks to LAX's new dedicated bus lanes, the ride is now downright magical when timed.

There are four FlyAway routes:

The FlyAway's most untouchable feature remains its price: just $8 to $9.75 each way, depending on the route. Two children under the age of 5 can travel free with each adult.Buy a ticket online, use a TAP card or pay with a credit card on board.

To locate the shuttle at the arrivals platform, look for the FlyAway signs (on theblue entrance area), look for one of the four buses. You are looking for a large coach or a smaller shuttle, which should be clearly marked. The driver will carry your luggage while you board (and if you have a few bags, it's not a big deal). All FlyAway buses are wheelchair accessible. There is even free WiFi on board.

Think of FlyAway as a way to dramatically reduce an otherwise very expensive trip home. Stops are centrally located near buses and trains, but you can also easily hail an Uber, Lyft, or cab to your final destination for a fraction of the cost of taking one from LAX. Better yet, have a friend pick you up at Union Station instead of LAX and spend whatever money you saveWestern Imperial Beer Company.

good date: At peak times, the buses that circulate around La Herradura can get crowded. If you are lucky and have some time, you can more or less secure a seat by going to the first terminals where the bus picks you up: Terminals 1, 2 or 3.

City buses are cheap and plentiful.

One of LAX's best kept secrets, but well known to airport staff, is apublic transport hubit is located directly at the airport. Especially if you're headed anywhere on the Westside or South Bay, this could be your ticket to very cheap and somewhat easy connections to the airport via a dozen Metro buses (6, 40, 102, 111, 117, 232). Culver City Bus (6R), Santa Monica Big Blue Bus (3, R3: Go directly to downtown Santa Monica), Torrance Transit (8), and Beach Cities Transit (10).

From LAX Airport, take the City Bus Center/Lot South (Pink Zone) shuttle for a quick ride to the bus center. Leaving directly from the airport

As part of LAX-it, the airport has undergone significant changes to make it more walkable, such as the installation of new signage and sidewalks connecting the terminals. Depending on which terminal you depart from, it takes at most 20 minutes to walk out of the airport, which really is a pleasant walk when you're enjoying the panorama of planes taking off behind the remains of mid-century architecture. (You'll know you're on the right track when you're out with a few pilots.)

Immediately opposite the airport there is aBus stop- Take a moment to admire the giant L-A-X and illuminated columns up close, serviced by Metro buses 40, 117 and 232. LADOT's 574 Commuter Express (goingstraight to encino, northbound only); and the Torrance Transit 8 bus. If you continue east, you have a choice.Airport hotels, restaurants and barsBe condescending when planning your next move.

good date: It is a maximum walk of 30 minutes untilin and outnorth of the airport; Simply turn left onto Sepulveda Boulevard at the LAX airport entrance. Do not walk directly into Sepúlveda: the tunnel that goes under the tracks is not accessible to pedestrians.

Shared vans still pick you up at the curb

Premium transportation services like Uber Black and Lyft Black, as well as sedans and city cars are exempt from LAX-it, so they're still welcome at the arrivals deck. Your vehicle will pick you up at the curb; drive to the orange zone.

Some rideshare vans are also allowed on the Arrivals platform. The best bang for your buck is good old fashionedsuper rocketHowever, the company announced in December that this was the case.to closeoperations. Although the site no longer accepts reservations, the companywalk-in reservations are still acceptedbis 31.12.PrimeTime-Shuttleoffers vanpool rides for similar prices, but they must be boarded via the LAX-it area (unless you've booked a private van through the company, which has curbside limo pickup).

But if you really want to be above it all...

Suppose you have to go downtown or Burbank immediately and you have a few hundred dollars that you are going to burn anyway. You'll probably want to check it outespada, a new start-up offering shared helicopter service from LAX to the Arts District or from LAX to Burbank Airport.

Only withthree flights a day(weekdays only) you may have to wait a bit at the airport, but once you get to the helicopter it's a five minute traffic-free flight. If you're flying the downtown route, you'll be dropped off at a helipad on The Row.

Of course, there's a downside: At $195 each way, your helicopter taxi may cost you more than your flight. (Here is aCodefor $50 off). It's certainly not the most sustainable way to travel either. Be sure to buy some additional carbon offsets.
